Katonah NY is one of those lovely quaint upstate towns that has the charm to support the visual boasts by the adorable main street and churches marking each intersection. I went up recently to see a piece of mine in the museum there and ended up having the best day wandering the building and meeting the staff and then wandering the streets. Take a peek through the quilts I saw and how a part of the show looks on the wall.
NYC
Just made it to New York. I LOVE visiting! Grand central just hit 100 years. Amazing history and culture has poured through these doors in that scant century.

Man-made 2
I went out to Vashon island on Easter Sunday to see a few of my pieces in the show at the gallery at Island Quilter. (I told them a better name for the gallery would be the LUKE Haynes space of awesome, but so far they haven't listened to me.) it was such a lovely show and of course the visit was wonderful since the people out there are so great!!

Spring!
Oh man!! It's a whole new world out there! What are you doing to prepare/celebrate? I'm taking allll the pictures and standing outside as much as I can.

LA I'm coming for you
Oh man! I didn't get the apartment I thought I had lined up. It was a place to manage which answered two questions at once. But now back to the search. Anyone know of an inexpensive spot?!

Los angles
Oh man! I'm tearing up this city to find a place to live. I think I found a place in Glendale. Fingers crossed!

Sedentary Saturday
Today I decided not to leave my house. But while I was watching my stories I had to do something with my hands. So I pulled out this bag of fabric strips from the Moda fabric company's waste bin I've been wanting to make a project out of. I tried my hand at a rug pattern. I only did two rows since it was so bulky. You can see the progress. I put an apple next to it for scale.

Photos with Nate
My good friend and photographer Nate Watters (shown here) is working on the portraits for my Life coach Kim Garland (also shown here) so I can make her the best website of all time for life coaching. We had a blast taking pictures and trying to convince Nate of things that weren't true.

Giving a talk at Blindfold Gallery
Boom CITY!
I had the pleasure to be a part of the event thrown by Dashboard Coop.
Here are a few of the images from the evening.

These are only a few, you can go look at the rest: on Faceboo
Seattle, It's not you it's me.
My time here in The Seattle is waining.
It's time to go in search of my fortunes.
But how it teases me when I get close to resolution to pack my machines and fabric scraps into boxes and see what sun I can find in other regions. BOOM it shows through the clouds and my friends invite me to join them in a romp or two beverages and a weather thematic cheers.
I have so enjoyed what I learned through my nearing 4 years in Seattle.
Everyone here is so good at being supportive and suggesting ways to be a better me. [In the good way, not the "you should fix yourself" way]
Plus I am SO spoiled for good restaurants for the rest of time. I will have to get all my meals airlifted to me.
Anyone have thoughts on L.A.?
New site!
I just updated the site.
I am VERY excited about the new layout!

Boy that was a LONG time ago
Ever get that old friend who sends you a picture of yourself from a LONG time ago? Well I have. And now you can see it.
Who is that hansom devil you ask?! why it's me of course!
even though that image hails from Middle school I was 50 pounds heavier than I am now. Must have been all that southern soul food that wasn't quite transcendent.
My new favorite critique on a series:
" a cross between american apparel faux poverty and guatemala city bus art"
I think I will put this on the placard when I hang them next time.
Cities according to the cards.
The cities that I found to come to the top of the algoritm. are these in order:
LA NYC SF New Orleans [I had 12 more, but I think top 4 are good enough]
I was working with My friend and Web developer Jesse and we worked out a system to ascribe values to each of the important components when choosing a city [all the way from arts infrastructure to the quality of the nearby airport.]
He wanted to create a website for it and therefore never actually did the exercise.
I wonder how much it was influenced by the fact that I wanted LA to be on the top? it could have been just that day or it could be a good approximation for my mental process.
Who knows. now I'd better go visit LA to see if it is the right one.
Deciding the city to move to.
My dude Jesse and I were talking about which city to move to and we came up with an algorithm
[using note cards and a complex point system for each value in a city.]
It was a good way to think about the values in a city without having to keep all the parts floating in your brain all at once.
[Don't worry. I put you on the list at the top most important]
My first trial with optics
It's rather rudimentary [and hard to see] but I think its a fun idea! any ideas for projects?
Playing with optics
Here is something I found and decided to try my hand at making one.
My 30th Birthday!
So I had a birthday! and it was my 30th.
I feel good about it.
I was taken out to my first Mani-Pedi...I am sure I like being 30 I am not sure however about having a team of ladies scrub down my feet with hot wax....
The News! Komo 4 Talks about the Yarn-Graffiti
What do you think? I think it was a good news piece! [and my first time on the nightly news! and the sunday edition at that!]
[[I dont know how to make it not spit adds at you...sorry]]
