Seattle Coffee
This is a design project I made for a coffee shop in Seattle. I made the pieces on the bags they get their beans shipped in from all over the world. I chose Seattle Icons as the images because it is the unifying purpose for these bags to ship in from all over.[ As well its hanging in Seattle...]
[Seattle Coffee #1] Space Needle
roughly 40" X 30" I was asked to put up a show in an iconic seattle coffee shop. I took this as an interesting design challenge. I took the bags they receive the coffee in and used them as the textile backing for my work. I then sent out the query for Seattle icons to sew on top of these bags. The show became the meeting of seattle iconography and the rough burlap of coffee import bags and international trade. blogged
